When you are a college student, there are a few apps that you definitely want to download on your phone. These apps will help you do everything from budget your finances to keep your emails organized. When it comes down to it, college can be a confusing and disorganized time, so using your smart phone or tablet like a Swiss army knife will help you in more ways than one. Indeed, there are apps for college students that will allow you to socialize and connect with friends back home and on campus – and there are also apps that will allow you the opportunity to send and receive large files that you may not be able to send via email. Here are four apps college students shouldn’t live without.
- Mailbox
Mailbox is a great app that will consolidate all of your email accounts into one place. Sure, your phone allows you to do this automatically, but it can be confusing to set up and not intuitive. There is a good chance that you have a mail account for your college and a personal email – you may also have a junk email account that receives newsletters. Whatever the case is, Mailbox will keep all of these accounts, and the individual folders within, much more organized. The best part is that Mailbox is free – you just have to download it and it will save within your Cloud, which will help save room in your available storage.
- Mint
If you are having trouble keeping track of your finances, you definitely need to download Mint. Mint is the ultimate budgeting app. If you are already on a tight budget, Mint will categorize all of your spending into specific labels, like meals, college expenses, and transportation. This makes it really easy to see where you are spending your money. For instance, if you are going to one of UC’s online nurse practitioner programs, Mint will tell you how much you are spending on tuition and when payments are due. It will also alert you when you spend too much money in a category – it does this when it notices spending habits that are unusual outside of your daily average.
This can be a frivolous app in some cases, but Instagram can also be one of the greatest ways to connect with friends – from back home and on your campus. If you are going to Georgia State University and you have friends back home in California, you could post pictures from your college life. When you are back home, you can do the same for your college friends.
- Dropbox
Dropbox is a fantastic must-have app on your phone, because it will make it really easy to send and receive large photos and other documents. When you are working on large research papers with lots of material, it can be easier to send the documents through this app. In the end, there are some other apps that make it easy to send large documents, but Dropbox is by far the best.
