We have moved to the city of Los Angeles to finally know the details of the expected and rumored graphics (yes, plural) of AMD dedicated to gaming. In the framework of SIGGRAPH AMD has presented in society the new Radeon RX Vega, which seeks to break the market with power under an attractive price, in addition to surprises in the form of packages designed so that (almost) anyone can build their gaming experience without have to sell a kidney.
AMD is betting on three segments within the gaming market, ranging from 399 to 699 dollars, with which it seeks to have an option under its new Vega architecture for all budgets. This is how we will have the new Radeon RX Vega 64 in versions with liquid cooling and air cooling, as well as the new Radeon RX Vega 56, with which they seek to attack the range of entry by offering 10.5 TFLOPs for $399.
Radeon RX Vega 64, AMD’s high-end graphics
AMD took it with calm, much calm, but finally the Radeon RX Vega 64 is the graphics with which they seek to stand up to the GTX 1080 Ti from Nvidia. This Radeon RX Vega 64 will be available in two versions, where the main difference will be the cooling system, which will directly affect the performance, power, energy consumption and, of course, the price.
Also, within the version Radeon RX Vega 64 with cooling system by air we will have a limited edition with the appearance we have in the liquid cooling. That is, a metal housing in brushed aluminum finish with an ‘R’ pixel with LED integrated in the corner. This edition will cost the same as the normal version or ‘Black Edition’, the difference is that it will only be available for a limited time.
In both cases the cards will be powered by Vega 10 GPU manufactured under a 14nm FinFET process with 64 counting units (NCUs) and 4096 cores. The bandwidth remains at 484 GB / s with 8GB HBM2 of VRAM memory.
The differences between both graphs will be the clock frequency that in the liquid cooling will be 1406/1677 MHz (base and accelerated), while the version of cooling by air will be 1247/1546 MHz. This will give us a power of 13, 7 TFLOPs for the top version of the Radeon RX Vega 64 and 12.66 TFLOPs for the edition with internal fan of 30 millimeters.
Of course we must also highlight the issue of energy consumption, so both cards will arrive with a double connector of 8 pins, since they will need 345 and 295 W respectively, so they will not be the most efficient on the market.
In terms of connectivity we will have at our disposal three DisplayPort and one HDMI, in addition to compatibility with DirectX 12, Vulcan, 4K 40-60 Hz at 60+ fps, AMD LiquidVR that offers support for Oculus and HTC Vive, as well as FreeSync 2.

Radeon RX Vega 56, AMD also goes for the GTX 1070
In addition to all this, AMD also presented an input graph and thus have products equivalent to the GTX 1070, 1080 and 1080 Ti. With Radeon RX Vega 56 seeks precisely to attack the market that wants a powerful graphics without having to invest a lot of money.
The Radeon RX Vega 56 stands out for its 10.5 TFLOPs of power with Vega 10 GPU, an energy consumption of 210W, frequencies of 1156/1471 MHz and 410 GB / s of bandwidth with the same 8GB HBM2 of VRAM memory.
In the following table we can see how the new Radeon RX Vega family is …
Radeon Packs, or how to create our gaming platform without investing much
Within the announcement of the new Radeon RX Vega, AMD presented something that has been christened as ‘Radeon Packs’, with what they seek to offer the market discounts when buying their new graphics. By purchasing any of the three new Radeon RX Vega we will have access to the following discounts:
- $ 200 in the purchase of a 35-inch curved Samsung FreeSync 2 monitor.
- 100 dollars in the purchase of a Ryzen 7 and motherboard.
- Two games worth 120 dollars. The titles will depend on the market, but in the case of the United States and Europe they will be ‘Wolfenstein II’ and ‘Prey’.
Note that the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled will only be available through Radeon Pack, that is, we can not buy the graphics alone, at least not until now.
Radeon RX Vega 64 and Radeon RX Vega 56, price and availability
The three cards will be available during the month of August with the following prices …
- Radeon RX Vega 56: $399
- Radeon RX Vega 64 Air Cooled: $499
- Radeon Red Pack with Radeon RX Vega 56: $499
