Finally WhatsApp stopped playing with our feelings and has begun to enable the possibility of deleting messages for both the sender and receiver. This is a feature we met in May of this year when he appeared in a beta version, which became official in June, but was not available until a few minutes ago.
Also, WhatsApp is updating the details of this long-awaited feature where we can see that it will apply both for individual chats and for groups, where the most important thing is that we will only have seven minutes after having sent it to be able to do the deletion, since after this time The message will remain on our phone as well as on the person or persons to whom we sent it.
“This message was removed”
The function is divided into two options: “delete messages for all” and “delete messages for you”, which as the name implies, each option will allow us to delete messages either on our phone only, something that could already be done, or delete it from all the mobile phones that have received it.

As the option that interests us in this case is to eliminate the message on all phones, let’s review what we have to do …
- Press and hold on the message to select it and touch ‘Delete’ within the menu. Here we can select several messages to delete them at the same time.
- Press ‘Delete’. Here we will see the two options: “Delete for all” and “Delete for me”, we just have to choose the one that applies in our case.
It should be noted that as previously stated, this does not completely eliminate the message, as it will only replace it with “This message was deleted”. Come on, everyone will know that we delete that message but they will not be able to see what we wrote. In addition, the message will remain in the notifications that our contacts have received, so the message can still be there even after deleting it.
This feature is beginning its deployment around the world and will soon be available to everyone. Of course, for the option of deleting messages to work, both the sender and the receiver must have the most recent version of the application, since otherwise this will not work properly.
The function of deleting messages is arriving at the same time to iOS, Android and Windows Phone. Here it will be interesting to try it on WhatsApp Web since until now nothing has been mentioned, but we believe that it will also be available.
